The (alternate universe reimagined) Enterprise slowly approaches a comet, creeping up the gap between its gas and dust tails. A shuttlecraft is launched to do a close inspection of the nucleus.

Reimagined Connie by Madkoifish, Reimagined Galileo by Taranis. Comet image by Arcas. DAZ Studio and Photoshop.

* Yeah I know there are some smoothing issues, but they wouldn't straighten out for me... and life's too short to get bent about it ;P

Very well done

Thanks! Yeah, I rather like this image for the ship elements. It's somehow class and fresh at the same time. Of course the upgraded models help on that :D

COOL! Right up the lane between the gas and plasma tails! Great lighting and energy to the comet. It definitely has that "snowstorm in space" feel.

Is there a way I can set a default so all your starship images are automatically tagged as favorites?

Very nice! (And another cool album cover ;))

As for the smoothing issues - at some point, we almost have to stop and think, "Surely this ship isn't made of hugedacious cast pieces, but more likely it's millions of panels attached to a framework, and if this were real, there would be very few, if any, smooth curves anywhere but maybe where there are 'sharp' corners, pipes, evidently-cast pieces - everywhere else should realistically be nearly flat panels that butt up against one another." Can you imagine stamping or casting every single hull panel? Not bloody likely ;). So if we see facets on a ship this large, if we're being realistic, they would probably really be there! After all, isn't aztecing really a way of showing individual panels, anyway? What we really need is a way to randomly modify the specularity of each facet of the mesh, and not even worry about smoothing :D.

Okay, end of technerd stuff - beautiful pic!

Y'know, I thought the same thing about the production materials.... which is why I was OK with publishing it. I can rationalize it to myself, and that's all that really matters ;) Glad ya like!
