Ah... wow. Thanks! It's always interesting to learn what appeals to the eyes of others. So often an artist's favorite images and those of his viewers are divergent.

Oddly, my favourite part of this image, and the first thing my eyes were drawn to was that spinning-top starbase in the upper right. Looks very reminiscent of old hand painted space art, with just enough detail to get the over all idea across, but leave something to the imagination.

It's great to see a traditional artist move into the medium so seamlessly. Your illustration training has obviously transferred very well, because your 3D work is much more skillfully composed than that of a lot of artists who have only ever worked with CG models (and I include myself in that - when it comes to composition and lighting I'm really just playing it by ear. Never got taught about perspective or even the rule of thirds).

I actually had very little formal training...I just made lots of mistakes! ;) A great way to learn, even if it does take a looooooottttt longer! I think it was Jack Kirby who said something like, "Want to know the secret of how to become a successful artist? Draw, draw, draw!" If I had to do it all over again I'd go to school for art instead of astronomy, but.... well, 202/20 hindsight and all that.

So with that said, a BIG thank you for your kind and supportive words! It's really gratifying to know that work can connect with some folks. And I need to spend some time cruising your gallery! Looks like some great modeling there!
