Gawd, SO much negativity in the comments for this piece. People need to lighten up, seriously. Really great piece, I've been to several cons, and I gotta say, I've seen a LOT of this. And a lot of other things that won't be mentioned outside of con, too. Still, as a life-long (and overweight) Trek fan, I'm loving this. Very realistic, and the expressions are perfect.
Yeah, the reaction this piece stirred really surprised me. As a long-time Trekkie with a less-than-Adonislike physique, it really never occurred to me that anyone would find it offensive?!? But I guess not all Trekkies can/are willing to laugh at themselves.
Anyhow, thanks for the note and glad you appreciate it in spirit it was intended.
I've never been to a Trek-convention or such but still that guy looks familiar to me like that obvious lacking of a sense of humour you can find in the comments does as well... "Methinks thou dost protest too much".... anyway,... it's a cute Charlene transformation and a cute caricature in the back. May they live long and prosperous!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, I've though lots about this "controversy" and have some theories, but it was not my intent to make this an "attack" piece or a statement on Trek fandom in general. But as we both know, once you put your work out there, viewers will assign their own meanings and messages over which you have no further control...
well,...every time you're making something funny (or maybe "controversial" - while I wouldn't even put this picture here in that category) you'll have half of the people on your side and the rest against you (roundabout ) and I tell you something: It would be rather strange if it were different
He's really enjoying the view of Charlene's B-side.. while we have to make do of the front part.. Fatty's expression is fantastically rendered, bro.. (not that I'm different, when I see an attractive and curvy girl)
