Captain’s Log, Stardate 60423.6: I’m am unsure whether to revel in our relative quiet or dread it. While our continuing survey of the Sagittarius Dwarf Galaxy has turned numbingly uneventful, in many ways it’s better than several months ago when it seemed Ma-Burah…. or, maybe as humans describe it, “The Fates”… wouldn’t give us a break, resulting in a number of casualties including Captain Mozyx. I have tried my best to make the spirits of the crew float after that trying time, but with so many Humans in the crew…well, our sensory clusters do not often equilaterally engage.
A Shuttlecraft is returning after doing a close inspection of a curious asteroid that seemed to be giving of signs or rudimentary, single-celled life forms embedded in its crust. I hope the sample returned by the away team yield positive results as we could use the excitement.
There’s a human expression that goes something like “beware of your wishes”. That sentiment bounces through my secondary evaluation lobes with increasing dread. I am sensing that our period of peaceful routine may soon be ending, which should not be unexpected from the Federations most ambitious and distant frontier exploration in many decades. The unfortunate side effect of this creeping feeling is that it has me chewing far too much Baree’bl fibers and I fear an impact in my job efficiency.
This is my first image of 2012… and I regret to report I’ve been stumped. Usually stories flow forth from my head and are easily translated into imagery, but lately… well, storytime has been next to impossible to achieve. But I figured that, if at least I crank out a fairly static, mundane image with a story (about a lack of story) attached, that it might help me get over the hump. We’ll see.
