In my life I haven't done much marker work, but this one was my most ambitious and arguably my most successful. This was done to represent the bridge of an exploration vessel from the Traveller RPG universe. It was my attempt to channel Cobb (from Alien) and Mead (from 2010), though it's obviously a pale shadow of those great talents (the production art masters!).
I liked this piece from the start, when I first saw it in a Traveller RPG universe supplement. It was the little details, like the rails to move the crew chairs back and forth, that really sold the picture. Thanks for sharing it.
I didn't realize you were also a skillful traditional artist. From what I've seen, not many CGI guys tend to sharpen their skills with pen and ink. I like this.
That may be the root of why so many "traditional" artists have a dim view of the 3D medium. A sort of "those that can't do, do 3D"! But that's certainly a stereotype. Most of the best 3D artists I know have solid drawing and/or painting skills. Folks like Steve Burg [link] , Craig Farley [link] , and Dave White [link] .
